Jim Carter Appointed to Denco 911 Board of Managers
The council approved a resolution appointing Jim Carter to the Denton Area 911 (Denco) Board of Managers for a two-year term beginning October 1st, 2026. Carter was nominated by the cities of Highland Village, Lewisville, and The Colony. Ann Martin was also nominated by the Town of Flower Mound. The Denco Area 911 district serves as the coordinating body for 911 calls in Denton County and surrounding areas, ensuring proper routing and technological adaptation for emergency communications.
Code Compliance Agreement Approved for Hondu Lane Properties
The council considered a code compliance agreement with Floyd Real Properties LLC for properties located at 1129, 1147, 1149, and 1157 Hondu Lane. The properties are zoned industrial and currently house Floris Fencing Supply, a manufactured home, a storage container, and two fireworks stands. The agreement allows these uses to remain for three years, provided specific conditions are met, including addressing non-conformities within 120 days, remedying health and safety violations within 60 days, constructing a board-on-board fence for outdoor storage, ensuring the gate is closed, and providing gravel or similar materials for parking areas with landscape screening. The agreement aims to bring the properties into compliance over time.
City of Corinth Honored with Three TAMIO Awards
The city of Corinth received three awards from the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO). The first place 'Tammy Award' for best one-time special event under 100,000 population was for Agorasaurus. An 'Award of Excellence' (second place) was given for internal communications for Corinth Connect, an employee newsletter. Another 'Award of Excellence' was awarded for a video public service announcement in the marketing category for populations under 75,000, specifically for the Keep Corinth Beautiful Butterfly Garden video.
Public Hearing to be Called for Termination of TIRZ Number Three
The council considered and approved a resolution to call a public hearing for the termination of Corinth Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) Number Three. The TIRZ, created in 2021, was set to terminate in 2055 and involved the city participating at 50% of the increment. Currently, there are no projects or obligations within TIRZ 3, which has a fund balance of nearly $400,000. The termination is being considered to potentially utilize 380 agreements for incentives, which can offer similar benefits. Eliminating the TIRZ would return approximately $400,000 to the city's general fund in the upcoming year, largely due to contributions from the Ashford Park development.
