Township Approves Fireworks Contract, Surplus Property Sale, and Community Development Grant

Madam Clerk read several resolutions, including R139 approving the 2026 fireworks display contract with Shaver Fireworks. R141 reauthorizes the sale of surplus real property known as block 53, lot 1.02, 2 (2011 East Valley Avenue) by open public auction. R285-288 requests approval of revenue and appropriations from the state of New Jersey for the FY2026 community development block grant for West Mr. Boulevard improvements in the amount of $142,920. The council moved to approve resolutions R19-2026 to R148-2026, excluding R145 which was tabled.

Upcoming 'Cops and Bobbers' Event Encourages Community Engagement with Law Enforcement

The Chief provided details about the 'Cops and Bobbers' event at the lake behind the municipal police station. The event is scheduled for tomorrow, June 17th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a second session two weeks later. Washington Lake Park to Host Weekly Pilates Classes and Other Summer Events

Nicholas Sakalas Recognized for Eagle Scout Achievement and Community Project

He dedicated over 200 hours to this project, with assistance from his father, fellow scouts, family, and friends. Sakalas earned 49 merit badges and demonstrated leadership by serving as troop guide and den chief. He also completed over 175 hours of community service, camped 110 nights, and hiked 75 miles. The township recognized his commitment to public service and leadership skills.
