Tiverton Council Debates Flock Cameras, Approves Charter Amendments, Authorizes Support Letters for Development Projects

The council discussed and voted on various proposed charter amendments and budget items. Key discussions included the potential to use casino gaming revenue for debt payment, proposed changes to council terms and the town administrator hiring process, and the funding for Flock cameras. Ultimately, a motion to remove the $23,000 for Flock cameras from the budget failed. Several charter amendments were moved forward for public hearing, including changes related to town land sales, town council terms, town administrator appointment, town treasurer and clerk positions, and the planning board structure. A housekeeping cleanup of the charter related to the budget committee was approved. The council also authorized the administrator to provide letters of support for two specific projects under the Rhode Island Ready program.
