City to Install Logoed City Limit Signs on Interstate 70
The board authorized an agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation for city limit signs on Interstate 70. This is the final phase of a sign replacement project, following replacements of entrance signs on Rock Road and street name signs. The agreement allows the city to have its logo on approved signs along I-70.
Special Use Permit Approved for Seasonal Ice Cream Business 'Snowy Treats'
The board held a public hearing for a Special Use Permit (SUP) for Snowy Treats, a seasonal business selling shaped ice, soft serve, and frozen whip. The applicant, Mr. Chambers, has 12 years of experience and intends to pass the business on to his grandchildren. The business will operate seasonally from June to October, with hours from 12 PM to 8 PM. It requires 1 to 1.5 employees to run. The board approved the SUP.
Committee Formed to Plan City's 80th Birthday Celebration
A committee has been formed to plan and coordinate the city's 80th birthday celebration in 2028. The committee, previously successful in planning the 'Sanan Celebrate 70' event, will organize events under the theme '80 and Extraordinary: Eight Decades, One Extraordinary Community.' The celebration aims to bring the community together to honor its history, residents, and shared pride.
City to Purchase Two Dodge Durango Police Patrol Vehicles
The board authorized the city administrator to purchase two Dodge Durango police patrol vehicles. This purchase is necessary because Dodge is no longer manufacturing Dodge Chargers, and the officers require the extra room in the Durangos. The purchase also addresses the need for replacement vehicles due to three recent motor vehicle accidents where police vehicles were damaged, with insurance not covering all costs, including depreciation.
New State Law Requires LLCs to Provide Contact Information for Properties
State Representative Rachel Prrowy announced the passage of House Bill 258, which requires Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) owning or leasing real property in St. Louis County to file an affidavit listing a natural person responsible for the property. This bill aims to provide a remedy for situations where municipalities cite properties owned by LLCs but cannot get a response. If two citations are issued without remedy, a court can compel the LLC to file a registered agent, making contact information public. This is intended to help municipalities address property issues.
