Roseville to Host 250th Anniversary Fourth of July Celebration at Rafford Place Park
Roseville's Parks and Recreation department, led by Director June Green and event coordinator Kristen Stafford, is preparing for the town's largest event, the Fourth of July celebration. This year marks the 250th anniversary and will be held on Saturday, July 4th, from 5 PM to 9 PM at Rafford Place Park. The event will feature the band "Police and Thieves," a fireworks show at 9:15 PM, approximately 10-15 food trucks, 5-6 local vendors, and beer and wine vendors. Special decorations, a "Roseville Radio" booth for recording messages, and inflatables are planned to commemorate the anniversary. The event is free to attend, with costs only for purchases from vendors.
Roseville Gears Up for Annual Juneteenth Celebration "Freedom in the Park"
The Parks and Recreation department is hosting its annual Juneteenth celebration, "Freedom in the Park," at Millbridge Nature Park. This year's event, now in its third year, will feature new food trucks, new artists, and a live band. The event aims to be inclusive for all community members and will take place on Saturday from 2 PM to 6 PM, with an adjusted time to avoid direct sunlight during performances and for attendees. The park itself is highlighted as a recently improved, accessible, and 'hidden gem' with shady areas and walking paths.
Roseville's Senior Center Without Walls Program Offers Diverse Activities for Active Adults
The Parks and Recreation department offers various programs for active adults, including a "Senior Center Without Walls" program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 AM to 2 PM. Activities include chair aerobics, balance training, health and financial wellness seminars, arts and crafts, and board games. The program aims to provide a safe space for adults to socialize and meet new people, promoting inclusivity and diversity. The department also collaborates with the Senior Network to offer additional programs like bingo and cornhole, and is preparing for the annual Golden Age Expo in August at Rosal Baptist Church.
Roseville Parks and Recreation Finalizing Farm Park Design, Planning for Future Growth
The Parks and Recreation department is actively planning for the future development of the "farm park." Currently, they are working with Team ADW to design the park and its amenities, aligning the design with available funding. Key planned features include soccer fields, an event center for basketball and other events, and a parking lot. The department is also continuously planning for the town's growth, anticipating the need for more recreational facilities, potentially expanding the farm park, developing town campus facilities, or creating pocket parks in underserved neighborhoods to ensure equitable access to recreation.
