This guide, completed over two years with extensive community engagement and technical advisory committee input, aims to address wildlife connectivity and habitat needs. Key takeaways include strong public support for planning tools to reduce wildlife conflicts and promote wildlife-friendly design, as well as a desire for regional collaboration. The guide outlines strategies for land use, conservation, and improving connectivity through transportation design. The council also discussed the proposed budget for implementing the plan, which includes a general plan amendment to update goals and mapping. The council discussed potential budget allocations for the Glassford Hill area, with assurances that initial funds would focus on Southgate Parking and Trailhead Area engineering.

PFAS Treatment Design for Quailwood Well #3 Moves Forward in Prescott Valley

The town is moving forward with the design and potential construction of PFAS treatment facilities at Quailwood Well #3. Jacobs Engineering Group is handling the design work. The project has a long history, with the original contract approved in 2024 for nearly $1.9 million, covering design, piloting, permitting, and grant management. An amendment was approved to extend the contract time, as the design is 80% complete and construction is anticipated within three to four months. The project scope was adjusted to focus on one well site instead of three due to cost considerations, and laboratory testing was eliminated. The project aims to remove PFAS chemicals, with the spent ion exchange media being classified as hazardous waste requiring specialized disposal.

Prescott Valley and HUSD Renew Agreement for School Resource Officers

The Town Council approved an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) to fund School Resource Officer (SRO) positions and an SRO Sergeant position. This agreement continues a four-year partnership through June 30, 2030, with a shared cost model. HUSD fully funds two SRO positions, while the town and HUSD share costs for the other two SROs (50-50). The SRO sergeant is funded 45% by the town and 40% by HUSD, with the remaining 15% covered by participating charter schools through a separate agreement. The SRO program focuses on creating a safe student environment through communication, positive relationships, conflict resolution, and prevention strategies.
