Peoria Police Introduce Specialized Electronic Detection Canine
The Peoria Police Department has added Roscoe, an electronic detection canine, to its unit. Roscoe is trained to detect electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and hard drives, by sniffing out the chemical that prevents overheating. This skill is crucial for investigations involving internet crimes against children, stalking, homicide, and harassment. Roscoe's training is continuous and funded by the United States Secret Service through Jordan Canine Detection. He also serves as an emotional support animal for victims and officers.
