City Council Approves FY27 Budget and Tax Ordinance Revisions

The council held a second reading and public hearing for the fiscal year 2027 budget. The budget was presented last week, adopting 5.216 mills, which represents no tax increase for residents. As no members of the public were present to comment, the public hearing was opened and subsequently closed without testimony. Following this, an amendment proposed last week was approved. This amendment was described as a clerical change to move funds between departments without altering overall financial figures or dollar amounts. Additionally, the council approved an ordinance to revise portions of chapter 11, licenses and taxation, consolidating hotel motel tax ordinances to prevent confusion.
