Patterson Expands Urban Enterprise Zone Foot Patrol Program to Enhance Public Safety

The City of Patterson is enhancing its public safety initiative by expanding the foot patrol program through the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ). This expansion will involve 16 officers and two supervisors patrolling commercial corridors and neighborhoods from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, starting July 1st. The initiative aims to increase visible police presence, strengthen community relationships, address quality of life concerns, deter criminal activity, and support local businesses by creating a safer environment for residents, merchants, and visitors. Funding for this program is provided through New Jersey's Urban Enterprise Zone program, which also supports the procurement of equipment such as mounted cameras and maintenance for support mechanisms. The city reports that crime statistics are down, but emphasizes the importance of residents feeling safe.
