Sculpture 'Red Rover' Accepted and Approved for Placement at Centennial Park
The City Council approved Resolution CR85, accepting the sculpture 'Red Rover' and approving its placement at Eleanor M. Wyatt Centennial Park and Sculpture Garden. 'Red Rover,' a bronze sculpture of a red-tail hawk, was the 2025-2026 Art on Park People's Choice winner. The Northland Arts and Humanities Foundation secured funding and will gift the sculpture to the city. It will be unveiled during the Sesqui Quincentennial Celebration on August 1st. The sculpture will be integrated into future park redesign plans.
City Hall Lobby Railing and HVAC Sound Attenuation Project Approved
The City Council approved a resolution (CR84) for an agreement with Boots Construction Company for the City Hall lobby railing and HVAC sound attenuation project. The project includes installing railings on the second floor for safety and aesthetics, and addressing loud HVAC units on the north side of the building. The contract amount is $185,884, to be funded from the capital projects fund. The council discussed that building codes do not mandate specific sound levels for commercial buildings, thus this improvement is not covered by warranty.
Northglenn Crisis Response Unit Reports High Service Numbers and Financial Impact
The Crisis Response Unit (CRU) presented a quarterly update on its activities from January 1st to May 31st. The CRU provides crisis intervention, homelessness intervention, and targeted violence prevention services, taking referrals from police, neighborhood services, the municipal court, and residents. Key statistics include 1478 services for crisis intervention, 800 for homelessness intervention, and 84 for targeted violence prevention. The unit has also reported significant financial savings through diverted emergency room visits and jail diversions, and has successfully housed nine individuals. The presentation detailed partnerships and ongoing grant applications to sustain and expand their services.
Northglenn Honors Six Residents with Waterwise Yard Awards
The City of Northglenn presented the June winners of the Waterwise Yards of the Month award as part of the North Glenn Neighborhood Beautification Program. This program, established in 1998, recognizes residents for maintaining beautiful homes and yards, with winners selected by volunteer judges. This year, due to drought conditions, only the Waterwise Yard category is being awarded, focusing on yards that use less turf, incorporate water-tolerant plants, and utilize landscaping materials like rock and mulch. Six winners were recognized, with some attendees present to receive certificates and lawn signs.
Northglenn Proclaims Monarch Day and Plans Sesquicentennial Celebration
The City Council of Northglenn, Colorado, held a meeting where they recognized "Monarch Flyway Conservation Day" and the "Sesqui Semiquincentennial Celebration." Mayor Prom Shannon Lukeman Hiroasa proclaimed June 15, 2026, as Monarch Flyway Conservation Day, encouraging residents to support monarch conservation. Park Ranger Megan Wells announced plans for four bee hotels across the city to support solitary bees. The Sesqui Semiquincentennial Celebration was also proclaimed for August 1, 2026, at Eleanor M.
