Outer Service Road Renamed 'Cash Lane' to Improve Property Identification
The city council discussed and approved an ordinance to rename an existing Missouri Department of Transportation Outer Service Road of U.S. Highway 54 to Cash Lane. This change was requested to improve property identification accuracy, especially for postal and 911 services. The property is currently addressed to East Liberty Street. Consent was obtained from Vandiver Village and MODOT. The ordinance passed after two readings.
City Council Considers $50,000 Contribution for Affordable Housing Sewer Infrastructure
The council considered a resolution supporting Teal Lake Village Phase 2 housing development and authorizing a city contribution of $50,000 for sanitary sewer infrastructure. This contribution is contingent upon the project receiving Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC) funding and proceeding to construction. The project aims to address the need for affordable and workforce housing, with 62 names on the waiting list for Phase 1. The proposed Phase 2 includes 46 units (32 two-bedroom, 14 three-bedroom). The sewer line extension cost is estimated at $364,000 for 2,660 feet, and the city's $50,000 contribution is intended to help Teal Lake Village earn more points for MHDC funding, as they were previously just shy of receiving it.
Survey Services Approved for New City Hall Public Safety Project
The council approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to sign task order number two with Engineering Surveys and Services LLC for professional survey services. This is for the new City Hall Public Safety Project, specifically to prepare an ALTA (American Land Title Association) survey at 711 East Jackson Street. The task order amount is $11,100, and the work needs to be completed by August 1st to aid the design team.
Tourism Tax Funds Recommended for Local Events
The council considered a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute agreements for recommended funding from the Mexico tourism tax. The Tourism Commission recommended $540 for the Audrey County Health Department's 'History Takes a Walk' events for advertising in the ledger. For a new event, 'Mexico Summer Jam' by Midwest Music Mecca (Nick Danger), the commission recommended $4,000 for advertising, a reduced amount from the requested $13,000 to assess crowd draw. This music event is scheduled for August 22nd, featuring live music, food, vendors, fire performers, and fireworks at the Fairytale Event Center.
