Christie provided an update on the extensive week-long 4th of July celebration for America's 250th anniversary across Walton County. The celebration begins in Loganville on June 27th with a Bon Jovi tribute band and fireworks at West Walton Park. Subsequent events include a faith and freedom breakfast in Monroe on June 30th, a food truck celebration in Loganville on July 1st, a hometown heroes parade in Social Circle on July 2nd, a concert in Walnut Grove on July 3rd, and a full day of activities including a 5K, farmer's market, and fireworks in Monroe on July 4th. City Council Approves FY2027 Budget, Allocates Additional Funds for Road Paving
The City Council approved the fiscal year 2027 budget resolution. The approved budget includes an allocation of $145,000 in additional funds for paving more projects, bringing the total not-to-exceed amount to $554,000. This allocation allows for a 35% match with other additional LMIG money that needs to be spent. The city received $48,864,000 in LMIG funding for fiscal year 26.
