This agreement, effective through September 30, 2031, allows the city to continue utilizing the county's board for adjudicating cases related to minimum maintenance standards and code enforcement. The county will charge $101.28 per hour for the chief building code inspector and $39.60 per hour for clerical support, with a cost not to exceed $1,000 per case without further authorization. The city has relied on this service for over 20 years.

City Commission Debates Regional Solid Waste Plan Amendments, Considers Future Opt-Out Options
The City Commission discussed the regional solid waste and recycling master plan and facilities amendment, including a revised second amendment. The Solid Waste Authority of Broward (SWAB) approved a master plan, and municipalities must approve the first amendment to an interlocal agreement within 120 days. The effective date requires approvals representing 80% of the municipal population by August 14, 2026. A second amendment was proposed, offering opt-out opportunities in 2028 and more recently in 2027 after contract awards. Commissioners debated the implications of the second amendment, particularly regarding the unanimity required for its approval and the subsequent opt-out provisions. The city administration recommended further discussion on August 11th after SWAB provides an update on other cities' votes.
