Kennesaw Adopts Updated Capital Improvement and Work Program for 2026-2030
The Mayor and City Council approved the adoption and final submission of the updated Capital Improvement Element and Short-Term Work Program for 2026-2030. These documents were previously reviewed and approved by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). Formal adoption by the Mayor and Council is required for the city to maintain its qualified local government certification. The resolution was approved unanimously.
Residents Decry Lack of Transparency and Communication from City Officials
Multiple residents expressed frustration with perceived lack of transparency, communication, and responsiveness from city officials regarding neighborhood issues, particularly concerning Woodland Park and park maintenance. One resident stated they felt ignored by city officials and mentioned an email where the mayor instructed council not to focus attention on them, calling them a 'rude, squeaky wheel'. This resident also detailed issues with a C-Click fix ticket for park improvements being saved as 'Desktop Junk' and alleged attempts at intimidation through code enforcement visits. Another resident felt the city manager provided erroneous information and that the mayor tabled discussions on Woodland Park until November, impacting peak usage time. Residents emphasized the need for meaningful conversations and direct engagement, not just budget-focused decisions.
Kennesaw Recognizes Municipal Court Clerks Week
The Mayor and City Council recognized the week of June 15th as Municipal Court Clerks Week. The proclamation highlighted the significant role municipal court clerks play in ensuring public safety and promoting quality of life, noting that they interact with more citizens than any other city service. The proclamation specifically thanked Brittany Sweeney, Caitlin Foster, and Amber Massey for their service.
Kennesaw Declares Three Surplus Trailers for Disposal
The council approved the declaration of three surplus trailers for disposal. The trailers, deemed non-operational due to age, condition, or lack of manufacturer support, will be disposed of through Gov Deals. The items include a custom signals radar trailer, a Decatur Electronics radar trailer, and an 8x5 utility trailer for which there is no foreseeable operational need. The motion to approve the surplus of these trailers was approved unanimously.
Home Occupation Approved for Summerbrook Drive Business
The council approved a land use permit for Radel Radoslav Sambrovsky to operate a home occupation at 2687 Summerbrook Drive. The business will involve engraving and selling home decor, art, and personalized gifts, conducted within the garage. The permit is subject to several conditions: the use is non-transferable, no clients or employees are allowed on-site, no business signs are permitted, only one commercial vehicle is allowed, no nuisance-generating emissions (noise, vibration, odors, etc.) are permitted, and the permit is valid for 24 months. The Planning Commission had unanimously recommended approval with these conditions.
