60-Second Council - June 23, 2026 Meeting

Council Adopts Fee Ordinance, Renames Street, Approves Budget Adjustments
The Council adopted ordinance 1639, which enacts a community services and parks fee. This fee was classified as an incurred charge via resolution. The Council also adopted ordinance 1640, renaming Madrona Street East to I Street. Additionally, the Council adopted a resolution making a budget adjustment and held a public hearing on a supplemental budget, subsequently adopting resolution 26-1658. The Urban Renewal Agency Board convened and adopted resolution 202602, making a budget adjustment.
Community Services Fee Adoption, Street Renaming, and Museum Building Sale Negotiations
The Council heard testimony from community members in support of the proposed community services and parks fee (ordinance 1639). If a referendum petition receives sufficient certified signatures, ordinance 1639 would be placed in abeyance pending an election, preventing fee collection. Staff warned that without this revenue, the museum and parks would close promptly. A separate action involved renaming Madrona Street East to I Street through ordinance 1640. Council also directed the city manager to continue negotiations for the potential sale of the museum building.
