City of Dallas Enhances Emergency Communication with New Everbridge Alert System

The city of Dallas is implementing Everbridge, a new emergency alert system, replacing the previous Civic Ready program. This system will be used to disseminate critical information to residents during emergencies, including evacuation plans and routes. While there was some data transfer from Civic Ready, residents are advised to re-validate their information in Everbridge to ensure accuracy, including contact details and locations. The system is state-funded, meaning no direct cost to the city or its citizens. Everbridge can also be used for internal staff communications, and separate sign-ups are required for public alerts versus staff alerts. Users can add multiple addresses to receive alerts for different locations, such as work and home. The sign-up process requires phone or email verification via text or email, which can be a complex step for some users. A tutorial video is also being created to guide residents through the subscription process.
