Public Works Ahead of Schedule on Mowing; Road Chip Sealing to Begin June 29th
Public Works reported significant progress on road mowing, being three weeks ahead of schedule, which is beneficial for water flow and traffic safety. Street sweeping has completed a second round. Oil and chip work is scheduled to start earlier than planned, on June 29th, with a two-day process expected for chip sealing. Fog seal application will follow in 2-3 weeks, with Public Works assisting by blowing out driveways before the subcontractor sweeps. Residents on Fair Hill, Welcome House, and Frontier roads will be affected.
Water and Sewer Authority Manager to Present PFOA Filter Project Due to Engineer's Absence
The manager of the Hilltown Water and Sewer Authority will personally handle the presentation for a PFOA filter project off well one, previously managed by an engineer who is now out due to unexpected surgery. This project is similar to one presented by Telford Borough Authority. The manager will manage this under the zoning hearing board circumstances, though he cannot vote on it due to potential conflict of interest.
Conceptual Plans Approved for May Field Pickleball Courts and Fair Hill Road Park Parking Expansion
Tim presented conceptual plans for the May Field site, suggesting the possibility of fitting six pickleball courts and parking spaces, along with a potential walking trail around the perimeter. The board authorized Tim to continue working on these plans. Separately, Tim also presented a rough sketch for a parking lot expansion at Fair Hill Road Park, which the board also authorized him to continue developing. The next steps for both projects involve sharing the plans with the Park and Rec committee and the public works department for further vetting and input before detailed design begins.
Fire Department Escorts Special Olympics Athletes; Zoning Hearing Notification Procedures Clarified
The board acknowledged a thank you from Supervisor Joe for the Hilltown Fire Department providing a fire truck escort for the Penridge High School students attending the Special Olympics in Minnesota. The escort for the bus leaving the parking lot was greatly appreciated. Separately, a resident inquired about the Fiddletree zoning hearing continuance date (July 8th), noting it was not on the main calendar but under 'meetings'. The board agreed to add it to the calendar. Notification and posting procedures for continued hearings were clarified; property owners are typically notified of the date certain at the hearing, and re-posting is not standard practice unless the hearing is reopened.
WB Homes Seeks Rezoning for 92-Acre Tract to Allow Smaller Lots and Increased Open Space
WB Homes presented a proposal to rezone two properties, the Boyd Tract and the Schmel Tract (totaling 92 acres), from RR (Rural Residential) to CR1 (Country Residential One). The proposal includes retaining 66 acres as open space, with a minimum of 50 contiguous acres. This rezoning would allow for smaller lot sizes, reduced lawn maintenance, and a more compact development footprint concentrated near the intersection of Route 113 and Diamond Street, potentially reducing driveway cuts. The plan aims to clean up the former salvage yard and create green space, possibly with trails. The board indicated a willingness to entertain a petition for this rezoning, which would involve further steps like planning commission review and a public hearing.
