Proposed Zoning Map Amendment for SBL and 17-1-31 Introduced
The town board considered introducing Local Law Number Four of 2026, which would amend the zoning map of the town of Fallsburg. The proposed change involves reclassifying the zoning designation of SBL and 17-1-31 from HR to a business zone. A public hearing for this local law has been scheduled for July 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Concerns Raised Over Glenwild Warehouse Development and Zoning Change
A resident, Robert, expressed concerns about a proposed zoning change for a property in Glenwild, formerly his farm, which was purchased by the Resnick family. The property is currently zoned agricultural, but the Resnicks plan to build approximately 200,000 sq ft of warehouses. The resident argued that the current plans involve using Old Glenwild Road, a narrow road unsuitable for heavy truck traffic, as the main entrance, citing a past incident where a 53-ft trailer went into a ditch. He proposed relocating the warehouses to the back of the property, behind existing structures, and using the main Glenwild Road entrance, which he believes would be safer and less impactful visually. Another resident, speaking for himself and his sister-in-law, also raised concerns about warehouse proximity to their homes and the proposed entrance on Old Glenwild Road. The board discussed the possibility of reverting the zoning to its previous state before the town changed it to agricultural, which would allow the Resnicks to build warehouses on the back part of the property. Compromise was suggested, including moving the entrance and exit to Glenwild Road, which the Resnick family is willing to consider if engineers deem it feasible. The planning board recommended changing the entire property to industrial zoning without reviewing the project details.
