Aviation Board Tackles Employee Training, Budget Challenges, and Capital Needs
The Board of Aviation Commissioners discussed various operational and administrative matters, including the completion of CDL training for maintenance employees, budget submissions and anticipated cuts due to House Bill 1, and potential revenue increases from new hangars. They also addressed capital requests for terminal window replacement and vehicle upgrades, and confirmed recent inspections of fuel farms.
EAA Chapter Seeks Assistance for Roof Replacement on Historic Airport Building
The board considered a request from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 132 for financial assistance to replace the roof on their leased building, which has historical value to the airport. While the EAA is responsible for maintenance under the lease, the board has a donation fund and discretion to contribute. The EAA is a 501c3 organization and will obtain additional quotes.
Board Approves Numerous Airport Project Reimbursements Pending Council Approval
The board discussed and approved multiple reimbursements for airport projects, primarily related to the T-hanger and runway rehabilitation. These reimbursements cover expenses incurred for professional services and construction, with significant funding coming from the FAA and state, and a smaller local share. All approvals for AIP42 and AIP43 are pending appropriation approval from the common council.

Fuel Flowage Fees Waived for Commemorative Air Force Tour Visit
The board voted to waive fuel flowage fees for the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Air Power History Tour visit from July 20th-27th. Indiana Flight Center, the host, will also offer discounted fuel and waive ramp fees. This waiver is a historical practice to support aviation events and promotes significant aircraft like the B-29 Superfortress, Steerman, RC45 Twin Beech, and T6.
