Parks, Environmental Initiatives, and Community Events Highlighted
Discussions were held regarding various park and environmental initiatives. The fencing process for a park has been challenging, with surveys and signatures to be used. Camp theater is being checked by treaty engineers. Drawings for BMPs are 90% done, with completion expected around August. Improvements include a drink shop at the bottom post station and work by the water and light departments. A significant project involves remodeling the north end of Okey Alley, removing a trellis, and providing shade with trees. There are also issues with business in the area. A CRD committee meeting is scheduled for July 14th to discuss a test kitchen concept, which is seen as a positive for the community. Developers Perry Wicky and Brian Washington are having their properties prepared for sale, with assistance for utility extensions and roads. NIPSCO is experiencing delays with their gas line, affecting the West King project. Efforts are ongoing to eradicate hemlock. A new stuff grader has been acquired. Common Council Approves Multiple Ordinances and Resolutions
The Common Council approved Ordinance 2026-18 by Title I, which relates to methods after the future of Title V and allows for a disconnect vote for a following point. They also approved Ordinance 2026-20 by Title ISA, which amends Title I by the vote ordinances of the City of Congress of the United States, effectively removing three departments of the New Removal Entity and giving the first part the ability to determine the best way to put that. Additionally, Ordinance 2026-23 was discussed, amending the City of 26 ordinance by 1926 with modifications including adding a test statement and modifying the technician and nature of appropriate sections. Resolution number 2026-24 was also approved by Title I, which is part of a go-to process for an indicator, disallowing the ability to affect lead instructors and create functional mechanisms.
Staff Retirements, Hires, and Key Procurements Discussed
The city has made several key hires and procurements. Bob, a big part supervisor, has retired, and Brian will request him as a new supervisor. The transition appears to be going well. Four campers have been rented to monitor multiple locations for an ammonia issue. Ned's report is absent as he is attending a 'go wild' program. The Dog Park is in final stages, but lock issues have caused restarts with a pickle lock company. Fireworks are planned for July 3rd, and baseball/softball tournaments are ongoing. Tom's report indicates four staff members are at the final inspection of a new engine, with repairs on item 107 hoped to be completed soon. Toby and Lee are working on radio repairs and programming for 800 radios, expected in service within 2-4 weeks.
