They also rejected bids for the King's Grant electric upgrade project and will rebid it with modifications to the scope and contract time. Additionally, DAR is finalizing the design for a future expansion and modernization project and is seeking $2 million in grant assistance from FEMA and PEMA, with an estimated total project cost of $3 million.
Fischerville Road Improvements to Include Profile and Stormwater Upgrades
The Kalan Township Board of Commissioners is updating the Fischerville Road program to include improvements to the road profile and stormwater management. Public Works staff will address a steep grade on the westbound lane approaching Bailey by building up the roadway to a 3% grade for water runoff, saving considerable funding by doing this before the road program mills and repaves the entire road. Stormwater inlets will be installed along Fischerville Road to replace an existing pipe, which will help with the slope issue. These improvements are expected to be completed before the road program repaves the road this fall.
Police Advise Residents on Door-to-Door Solicitations; Speeding Concerns Raised
The Chief of Police addressed concerns about unsolicited door-to-door sales, recommending residents call 911 if individuals soliciting goods do not have a permit from the police department. The township has an ordinance requiring such permits, and persistent violators face steep fines. It was noted that currently, there are no individuals on the peddler's permit list. A request was also made to utilize the speed trailer on Lloyd Avenue due to increased speeding.
Library Support Appreciated; Concerns Raised About Unidentified Solicitors
Pete from the Bryn Mawr Library expressed gratitude for the township's support, noting the library is doing well over the summer. He also highlighted that people are encountering individuals soliciting for solar panels and siding who lack identification or badges, and these individuals are often seen at Engleside Village as well.
Community Input Sought for Lincoln Highway Corridor Design
The Lincoln Highway committee is holding a public discussion on June 15th to gather community input on design ideas for the corridor's look, feel, safety, mobility, and access.
