City Announces Diverse Events for America's 250th Anniversary Celebration
The City Manager provided an update on upcoming patriotic activities and educational events celebrating America's 250th anniversary. These events include flag displays, educational presentations, a hike, a birthday celebration at the Senior Center, and a 4th of July celebration with fireworks. The Aquatic Center will also be open with special activities.
Public Hearing Held for Annexation of 49.617 Acres Near Lower Buckeye Road
The council held a public hearing for the annexation of approximately 49.617 acres, referred to as the Power Oz LLC project (now GEC Oz LLC). The property is located south of the southwest corner of 269th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. The annexation meets statutory requirements, and staff noted that city development standards are higher than county standards.
City Council Recognizes Nearly $18 Million in Grant Funding Success
Vice Mayor Goodman highlighted the city's success in securing grants, noting that the city has nearly $18 million in grants and grant applications. This funding, in addition to the recently passed budget, will provide significant resources for the city to undertake various projects and initiatives.
City Council Rejects Rubcorp Settlement Offer, Authorizes Further Negotiations
The City Council convened into an executive session and subsequently reconvened into a public meeting to discuss litigation strategy regarding 'City of Buckeye versus Rubcorp Distribution LLC'. The council voted to reject the settlement offer from the defendants and directed the city attorney to proceed with settlement negotiations.
