Bernard's Township Annual Audit Report Shows No Findings, Stable Fund Balance
Resolution 2026-312, the annual report of audit for compliance with NJSA4A 5-4 2025, was approved. The report indicates a stable current fund balance of $24 million, consistent with the previous year. Notably, there were no audit recommendations or findings for the current year, which was highlighted as an excellent result. The CFO, Sean McCarthy, and the finance team were thanked for their work.
New Salary Ordinance Introduced to Attract and Retain Township Talent
Ordinance 2601, which amends salary ordinance 2529 to fix the compensation of certain officers and employees on or after July 1, 2026, was introduced on first reading. The salary ordinance was last reviewed and revised in June 2023. Bernard's Township Honors Brazil National Football Team's World Cup Stay

Bernard's Township Adopts Ordinance Prohibiting Data Centers
The Township Committee adopted Ordinance 2599, which amends land development code Chapter 21 to prohibit data centers throughout all zones of the township. This decision followed a review by the Planning Board, which found the prohibition consistent with the township's 2023 Master Plan, particularly regarding environmental capabilities and limitations, and preventing land uses inconsistent with the Master Plan's envisioned development patterns. Concerns cited include high electricity consumption, water demands, noise, and strain on infrastructure. The ordinance aims to protect the township's character and environmental resources. A representative from Warren Township spoke in support, noting their similar adopted ordinance.
