Temporary Road Closure Approved for Vintage and Handmade Market on North 7th Avenue
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a request from Next.Beach Grove to temporarily close North 7th Avenue for the Sprouted Root Vintage and Handmade Market. The closure will be from Main Street to the alley on Saturday, July 11th, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, hosted by Rustic Root, will feature vendors selling vintage, antique, and handmade products, along with food and entertainment. The city will provide trash totes and barricades from DPW if approved.
Enviro Forensics Contract Approved for Brownfield Remediation and Grant Acquisition
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract with Enviro Forensics for Brownfield work. This contract initiates a working relationship with Enviro Forensics and Western Engineering to identify and apply for grants, such as the Posey Grant and APA grants, to mitigate and make usable contaminated properties within the city. The contract is for up to $2,500 per month at a rate of $175 per hour.
Crossroad Engineering Awarded Contract for Emerson Avenue Safety Improvement Project
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the contract for preliminary engineering services for the Emerson Avenue High Injury Network Safety Improvement SS4A project. Crossroad Engineering was awarded the contract based on a thorough evaluation of their proposal, which scored 9.67 out of 10. This project aims to redesign the entire Emerson Avenue corridor from Main Street to 465, with the grant award received late last year.
Beach Grove EMS Department to Hire Three Part-Time Paramedics
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the hiring of three part-time paramedics for the Beach Grove EMS Department. The approved paramedics are Luke Tenbarge, James Todd, and Timothy Ball. The hourly rate for part-time paramedics is set at $29.70, and their start date is effective after the board's approval.
Cohen Heilwegan Promoted to Commercial Driver in Department of Public Works
The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the promotion of Cohen Heilwegan from probationary laborer to commercial driver within the Department of Public Works. Mr. Heilwegan, who was hired in December and graduated from Beach Grove High School, demonstrated a strong work ethic and obtained his CDL post-hire. His new base pay will be $65,954.3, with an additional $2,500 CDL benefit bonus, an increase from his previous base pay of $51,984.10.
