The ordinance passed with a 4-to-2 vote after a third reading, with Councilmembers Janick, Winarski, Dumbinski, and Harmage voting yes, and Councilmembers Nahorn and Mochomer voting no. Amherst Council Approves Wastewater Facilities Funding Agreement

Amherst City Council adopted Resolution R2604, authorizing the Mayor to apply for, accept, and enter into a Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) agreement for wastewater facilities. This agreement covers planning, design, and/or construction of wastewater facilities and designates a repayment source for the loan. The resolution was adopted on its second reading after a motion to suspend the rule requiring three readings passed with a 6-0 vote. The full council then adopted the resolution with another 6-0 vote. This action is intended to secure funding to move the wastewater facilities project forward quickly, with consultants indicating that passing the resolution would allow the city to meet a July deadline for funding.
