Alpine City Council Approves FY27 Budget with Modifications After Extensive Discussion

The Alpine City Council held a public hearing and discussed the fiscal year 2027 budget, including proposed increases in compensation for municipal executive officers and general staff, capital improvement projects, and various departmental allocations. The council ultimately voted to approve the budget with several modifications, including excluding compensation increases pending further review, restricting funds for the Ridge Drive and Canyon Crest roundabout, and allocating park tax funds with a specific split for historical projects. A budget amendment for fiscal year 2026 was also approved, adjusting funds for parks, street maintenance, and transferring funds to the capital improvement fund. The council also discussed the fire station/community center project, approving an amendment to the agreement with Cir Construction, and addressed the site plan for Long Range Shooters of Utah. Numerous public comments were received regarding the budget and the site plan, particularly concerning the roundabout and the proposed business's compatibility with the neighborhood character and historic design guidelines.
