Sholo City Council Adopts Final Budget of $149.6 Million for FY 2027
The Sholo City Council adopted the final budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, totaling $149,615,506. This budget remains unchanged from the one previously approved by the council on June 2nd. The secondary property tax levy will be adopted on July 22nd. The budget reflects a budgeted local sales tax of $18 million, operating reserves of $8.4 million (including a $1 million voter-mandated reserve), and a tax rate of 0.1401 per $100 of assessed value. The Sholo Bluff Community Facilities District (CFD) also adopted its final budget for the same fiscal year, amounting to $168,580, with an unbudgeted reserve of $223,000.
Sholo City Council Approves Real Property Exchange for Park Improvement
The Sholo City Council adopted Ordinance Number 2026-05, authorizing the exchange of real property parcels between the City of Sholo and ANN SH LLC. This exchange aims to benefit the Timothy McKay Memorial Park. ANN SH LLC will transfer approximately 4,262 square feet to the city, while the city will transfer 6,716 square feet to ANN SH LLC. The ordinance finds that the exchanged portions are of substantially equal value, as per Arizona Revised Statute 9-407, and authorizes the Mayor to execute the necessary documents.
Sholo City Council Approves Contract for New Taser Systems for Police Department
The Sholo City Council approved a five-year contract with Axon Enterprise Incorporated for the purchase of new Taser 10 systems for the Sholo Police Department. This replacement is necessary as the current Taser 7s are nearing the end of their supported life. The new Taser 10 offers enhanced capabilities, including individual cartridge firing and a longer range. The contract also covers requisite supplies.
Sholo City Council Approves Multiple Renewal Agreements and Annual Purchase Orders
The Sholo City Council approved a renewal agreement with White Mountain Mills [sic - likely intended as White Mountain Trails or a similar organization based on context of other agreements]. The council also considered and approved renewal agreements with the Sholo Historical Society, Sholo Main Street, and the Sholo Chamber. Additionally, annual purchase orders for fiscal year 2027 were approved, along with resolutions for adopting annual policy and designating a chief fiscal officer. Several lease amendments with the General Services Administration and agreements with the US Department of Agriculture, Earth Scope, and for aquatic center parking lot and public works building design-build were also approved. The acceptance of the Timothy McCave Memorial Park building remodel and city hall security improvements were also part of the consent calendar. Finally, minutes from the June 2nd, 2026 Sholo City Council meeting were approved.
Sholo City Council Approves Access Control System Upgrade for Enhanced Security
The Sholo City Council approved the acceptance of the completed access control system replacement by AMK Solutions LLC. The project, originally contracted for up to $156,428.75, included a scope revision to add an evidence building gate for the Sholo Police Department at an additional cost of $3,454.96. The final total cost for the project is $159,883.75. This new system significantly enhances city security by restricting access to sensitive areas and logging all access events. The council approved the scope revision, authorized associated budget transfers, released retainage, and initiated the two-year warranty period.
