Quincy Beach Water Quality Remains Safe for Swimming

Water quality testing at 13 City of Quincy beaches and all of Wallist Beach has shown safe levels of bacteria for swimming this week, based on results from tests conducted on Wednesday. The Quincy Health Department is responsible for testing city-owned beaches, while the Department of Conservation and Recreation tests Wallist Beach. This weekly testing program runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Signs will be posted at beaches if bacteria levels exceed safe limits.

Jellyfish Stings Prompt Warnings at South Boston Beach

Lifeguards at Curly Beach in South Boston have posted warning signs and advised caution due to jellyfish stings reported on Wednesday. Lion's mane jellyfish have been spotted near the shore, and lifeguards are actively removing those that wash ashore. Visitors are reminded to enter the water at their own risk. Experts recommend removing tentacles with tweezers or a credit card and using vinegar to deactivate stinging cells. The Boston Centers for Youth and Families has also issued warnings about jellyfish presence on sand and in water, noting that their movement depends on tides, currents, and weather.
