Paulsbo Considers Paid Parking as a Tool to Balance Downtown Event Use and Business Access
The Council discussed the potential for paid parking downtown, noting it as a tool to manage event usage of Anderson Parkway and incentivize event organizers to use only necessary space or consider alternative venues. While acknowledging resident and business concerns about parking availability and event frequency, the council emphasized that paid parking is a complex policy balancing competing interests and aims to ensure the long-term vibrancy of downtown businesses.

The council also considered and rejected an amendment to limit the increases only through 2027, opting for the phased approach. The decision was made after extensive discussion about housing affordability, the need for park maintenance and development, and the fiscal responsibility of the city.
