BMJ Engineers Hired for 24th Street and Elmwood Area Resurfacing Project
Resolution number one approved an agreement with BMJ Engineers and Surveyors Incorporated for professional design and construction engineering services for the 24th Street and Elmwood Area Resurfacing Project. The motion was moved by Council Member Pemberton and supported by Council Member Mojerak. The resolution passed with all council members voting in favor.
Port Huron Approves Budget Amendments for 2025-2026 Fiscal Year
The council approved amendments to the 2025-2026 budget for end-of-the-year adjustments. The motion was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Archibald and supported by Council Member Mojerak. The vote passed with all members voting yes.
Port Huron Proclaims June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month
The city council officially recognized June 2026 as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in the city of Port Huron. Consent Agenda Includes Liquor License Notification, Reappointments, and Budgetary Resolutions
During the consent agenda review, the council received and filed notification from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission regarding a new application for WSHNR LLC at 207 Water Street. They also received and filed a notification of Dale Himala's reappointment to the Port Huron Housing Commission. Several resolutions were presented, including those approving clerical errors in the city budget, certifying delegates for a retirement system meeting, reappointing members to the Construction Board of Appeals, and confirming single lot assessments for brush and branch pickup.
Downtown Streetscape Assessment District Discussed, Resident Seeks Removal
A public hearing was held regarding the continuation of the downtown special assessment district for the ongoing maintenance of the Huron Avenue Streetscape Project. One resident, who stated she does not own property on Huron Street but on Hearing Street and receives no direct benefit (plantings, snow removal) from the streetscape, requested to be removed from the assessment. Another resident and business owner supported maintaining the downtown's appearance through continued assessments. The council agreed to review public comments and look into the concerns raised.
