Updates Provided on Gratiot Road, Bike Path, and Local Road Projects
Mr. Bishop provided an update on various city projects. The Gratiot at Huron intersection is scheduled to open by Wednesday, with work ahead of schedule. The project is anticipated to wrap up by the end of August. He also addressed the punch list items for the bike path on River Road, including a low ADA ramp that needs rebuilding, damage to the path caused by a heavy truck requiring repair, washout areas needing restoration with 22A material, and a section on Davis Road that requires patching by Ace. Issues with recent patches on the bike path's rideability were noted, and the contractor (PCE) has been responsive, though ML Chartier is entering their busy season.
Maner Costerisan Selected for Four-Year City Auditing Contract
The City Council approved a four-year contract for certified public accounting services with Maner Costerisan. Four firms were contacted, and two proposals were received from Maner and UHY. Plant Moran declined, and Rehmann cited staffing issues. Maner was selected based on prior experience and total cost. The contract is for $223,000 over four years, beginning June 30, 2026, coinciding with the fiscal year end.
Raymond Excavating Awarded Contract for Georgia Avenue Reconstruction Phase 2
The City Council approved the lowest bid from Raymond Excavating Company Incorporated for the Georgia Avenue reconstruction phase 2. The project, with a bid of $519,063, will reconstruct the remaining portion of Georgia Avenue and the 9th Street cul-de-sac. This project is planned for next year's budget. Raymond Excavating previously completed the first phase of the Georgia Avenue reconstruction. Three bids were received and evaluated.
Marysville Public Safety Department Acquires Advanced Training Manikin
The Marysville Public Safety Department is set to receive a new Simulaid SmartStat Basic Manikin for advanced training purposes. This high-fidelity manikin will allow paramedics, particularly newer staff, to practice a wide range of emergent procedures, including EKGs and defibrillation, replicating real-life patient scenarios. The purchase aims to significantly elevate the department's training capabilities. Council members expressed interest in observing the training sessions.
Joan Wood Drive Resurfacing Added to Local Street Project
The City Council approved a contract modification with Taltoe Contracting to add the resurfacing of Joan Wood Drive to the 2026 Local Street Rehabilitation Project. The modification adds $58,272.75 to the contract. This was made possible by remaining funds in the local roads budget at the end of the fiscal year and savings on mobilization costs due to the contractor needing to return for other unfinished work. Joan Wood Drive was identified as a suitable candidate for resurfacing.
