Airport Lease Agreement with Idaho Inline Hockey Amended for Rent and Construction Timeline
The council approved an amendment to the lease agreement with Idaho Inline Hockey for airport space. This amendment grants them an additional year of $1 rent and extends the construction start and completion dates by one year. All other terms of the original July 3rd, 2025 lease remain unchanged. The mayor is authorized to sign relevant documents.
Resident Urges Action on Fireworks Due to Fire Risk and Irresponsible Use
A resident, Christie Lewis, voiced concerns about fireworks, particularly given the current dry conditions in the city, which she believes makes the area highly susceptible to fire. She argued that people are irresponsible in their use of fireworks and that a display at the fairgrounds should suffice. Lewis cited personal experiences of her yard catching fire from neighbors' fireworks and recalled the significant fire at Mink Creek that destroyed 60 homes. She believes fireworks are dangerous and urges the city to address the issue, stating, 'we just can't do it.'
Short Plat Approved for 3939 Hawthorne Road, Requiring Future Sidewalk Contribution
The council approved a short plat application for 3939 Hawthorne Road. The application, submitted by Chandler Jorgenson and represented by Jose Nava, seeks to subdivide a 0.40-acre parcel into three lots. Lot two has an existing house, and lot three will be dedicated as right-of-way for the future expansion of Hawthorne Road. Staff found the proposal compliant with municipal code, with the condition that a deferred maintenance agreement be recorded. This agreement ensures the landowner will pay for sidewalk installation in the future when contiguous sidewalks are needed or when further development occurs along Hawthorne Road, preventing isolated sidewalk segments.
Pocatello Amends Fireworks Regulations for Clarity and Functionality
The council considered an ordinance to amend Pocatello Municipal Code Chapter 15.10, Fireworks Regulation. The amendments aim to clarify and improve the function of the title by modifying sections related to non-aerial fireworks, retail sales applications, time of sale, dates for discharge, and sales at temporary stands. Additionally, a new section for dangerous fireworks infractions is being added. The ordinance passed its final reading.

Her term will begin July 13, 2026, and expire July 13, 2028. Additionally, Julie Rowe was appointed to the Pocatello Arts Council, replacing Tanner Morton. Her term begins June 19, 2026, and expires November 17, 2029. Jonathan Farnsworth is being considered for removal from the Civil Service Commission, effective June 18, 2026.
