City Council Declares Aeration Basin Cleaning an Emergency
The city council declared the cleaning of aeration basins an emergency, authorizing the mayor and city manager to pay Proceptive $17,500 for emergency cleaning services. This was necessary to protect city assets and ensure the timely installation of new aeration basin equipment, as significant amounts of grit were found that could damage the new pump and delay the project.
Columbus Quarry Awarded Bid for Aggregates
The council accepted a bid from Columbus Quarry for aggregates (bid E26-04), as they were the only bidder to meet the specifications.
CJ Contracting LLC Hired for Pole Barn Construction at Landfill Expansion Site
The council authorized the mayor and city manager to engage CJ Contracting LLC to construct two pole barns at the landfill expansion site for a total cost not to exceed $58,600. The pole barns are intended to protect vehicles and equipment exposed to the elements.
Parks and Recreation Acquires New Mower and Attachment Kit
The Parks and Recreation Department is authorized to purchase a 52-inch mower with a power unit, deck trash bucket, and stream trimmer mount kit for $11,361.75 under contract number 20 from Omnia Partners.
Ford Maverick LX Crew Cab Approved for Purchase
The council approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford Maverick LX Crew cab under state contract T191 for $28,261. The vehicle will include optional equipment and be purchased from Steiner Ford Lincoln in Montgomery, Alabama.
