City Council Adopts FY 2026-2027 Budget, Prioritizing Public Safety, Infrastructure, and Fiscal Stability

The City Council reviewed and adopted the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Operating and Capital Improvements Budget, as well as the budget for the Novato Public Finance Authority. The budget was described as 'status quo' and focused on public safety, streets, and park maintenance. It includes funding for essential services, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives, balancing available resources with community priorities. Several grants and inter-jurisdictional partnerships were highlighted as ways to leverage external resources and enhance service delivery. Key investments in the Capital Improvement Program include Novato Boulevard ($15.5 million), Olive Avenue ($2.1 million), Scott House ($3.1 million), Marin Highlands Park and Marion Park ($500,000), a pedestrian safety project ($250,000), and the annual pavement program ($2.5 million). The Marin Valley Mobile Country Club budget also includes $4.2 million in revenue and $3 million in expenses, with a debt service coverage ratio exceeding requirements.
