Village Board Approves Sale of Surplus Fire Apparatus

Trustee Minkx presented Resolution 2637, authorizing the sale of surplus village fire apparatus. The resolution aligns with Ordinance 0527, which allows the village to sell obsolete or surplus vehicles and personal property valued over $1,000. A 2006 SMEL Quint 4 fire engine has been deemed surplus due to age, maintenance costs, parts availability, and obsolescence. The village plans to sell this vehicle through the Northwest Municipal Conference joint municipal surplus vehicle auctions, finding it cost-effective. The sale is scheduled to occur at an auction in Crestwood on July 16th, 2026, organized by the Northwest Municipal Conference in conjunction with America's Auto Auction Chicago.
