Board of Adjustment Reappointments Approved
The city council considered appointments to the Board of Adjustment. Spooners Cove Planned Development Master Plan Approved; Pensacola Avenue Rezoning Withdrawn
A public hearing was reconvened to consider the adoption of ordinance 2026-O-09, regarding the rezoning of 202 Pensacola Avenue. The applicant has withdrawn their request for rezoning. The council motioned to accept this withdrawal, closing the public hearing on this matter. Subsequently, the council considered Ordinance 2026-O-10, approving the site development master plan for Spooners Cove planned development at 300 Bryan Street. The plan includes 71 residential lots, one commercial lot, internal roadways, open space areas, and marina amenities with up to 68 private marina slips on approximately 39.5 acres. The plan was recommended for approval by the planning board subject to applicant-agreed conditions, including provisions for a publicly accessible nature park.
Morehead City Adopts FY 2026-2027 Budget; Manager Tasked with In-Depth Fiscal Analysis for Tax Reduction
The City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Annual Budget Ordinance (2026-13.1) and related amendments and fee schedule. The proposed budget totals approximately $42.1 million, with the general fund at nearly $20 million. Key highlights include holding the property tax rate steady, no increase in full-time equivalent staffing, and an overall spending reduction of approximately 3% compared to the current fiscal year.
