Delinquent Weed Abatement Charges to be Placed on Tax Roll
The city plans to place delinquent weed abatement charges for the 26-27 tax roll onto the tax roll. This action affects 77 parcels with a total outstanding amount of $49,781.20. A resolution will be adopted to confirm the levying of these costs and establish special assessment liens against the properties to mitigate fire hazards and ensure public safety.
Anchor Rehabilitation Project Completed with CDBG Funding
The city provided an update on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded activities for the Anchor Rehabilitation Project. The project utilized $700,000 initially awarded in 2020, plus an additional $175,000, for a total of $850,000 spent. The funds were used to rehabilitate interior spaces including kitchen areas, bathrooms, and laundry facilities, and to add exterior security cameras. The project is now complete.
Resident Urges Action on Sidewalk Safety Concerns on South Spring Street
A resident requested an update on planned sidewalk improvements along South Spring Street, particularly in front of the corner of Spring and Library Street. Following a fatal accident on May 22nd, it became clear that existing sidewalks present safety concerns due to uneven sections, causing pedestrians to stumble or walk in the street. With anticipated increased pedestrian traffic for the 4th of July celebrations, the resident urged action to improve pedestrian safety.
