The City Council adopted three resolutions to update salary schedules for city employees, effective July 1st, 2026. Resolution 015-2026 adopts a revised salary schedule for AFSCME rank and file employees, reflecting a 2% across-the-board increase previously incorporated into their MOU. Resolution 016-2026 does the same for AFSCME management unit employees, also a 2% increase based on their MOU. Resolution 017-2026 applies the same 2% increase to unrepresented, at-will, confidential, and non-confidential professional and management positions. These increases are incorporated into the approved fiscal year 2026-2027 budget.

T-Mobile Lease Amendment Discussion Leads to Renegotiation for Monopole Aesthetics

The City Council considered a recommendation to approve the first amendment to a communication site lease agreement with T-Mobile West LLC for a monopole located at 21815 Pioneer Boulevard. The current lease, which has been in effect since an unspecified date, charges $200 per month and expires soon. T-Mobile requested a lease extension for a new 5-year term with options for additional 5-year renewals. The proposed rent is $3,500 per month with a 3% annual escalation, representing a significant increase. T-Mobile also proposed to replace existing batteries with new lithium-ion batteries within the existing cabinet. The council discussed potential aesthetic improvements to the monopole, such as converting it to resemble a tree, and whether the city or T-Mobile would incur the cost, with the possibility of using T-Mobile's $5,000 signing bonus for conceptualization. The council ultimately voted to postpone approval to renegotiate regarding aesthetic improvements and potential cost sharing.
