City Council Approves Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Annual Budget

The City Council approved the second reading of the ordinance adopting the annual budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The estimated year-end balance is $21,671,239. Estimated revenue for the fiscal year is $29,214,790, and estimated expenses are $28,120,925.14, leaving an estimated fund balance of $22,783,138.6. Discussions included a significant increase in administrative salaries, attributed to two hourly employees becoming salaried and the addition of a finance officer position. Concerns were raised about comparing the 2024 actual budget to the 2027 budget, with explanations focusing on the three-year span, increased staff, and rising payroll costs. The budget was approved with a motion and second, followed by a roll call vote.
