Fees Waived for Annual 4th of July Celebration
The council is to approve the waiver of certain fees for the annual 4th of July celebration, including fees for the carnival fireworks display, parade, and 5K run walk. City Secures Favorable Financing for Street Reconstruction Project
The City Council considered Resolution 26-70, awarding the sale of general obligation bonds series 2026A. Nick Anhut from Ehlers and Associates presented the results of the bond sale, which aims to fund the ongoing street reconstruction project. The city was assigned a strong AA1 credit rating by Moody's Analytics, the second highest rating available. The bond sale attracted 10 bids, with Raymond James submitting the winning bid at a rate of 3.07%. This favorable outcome allowed for a reduction in the total principal amount to $9,090,000, lowering estimated repayment costs.
City Council Reviews Electronic Payment Schedule
The City Council is reviewing the schedule of electronic payments processed between May 28th, 2026, and June 10th, 2026. This is a routine item where staff provides the council with a list of electronic payments made since the last meeting for their reception.
City Abates Over $71,000 in Street Assessments for USPS
The City Council considered Resolution 26-69 regarding the abatement of street assessments for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Due to federal immunity from such assessments, the city is abating $71,429.88 from the tax rolls for six parcels owned by the USPS related to the 2024 street project. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Councilmember Geisler and seconded by Councilmember Olsen, passing with unanimous support.
Community Strength Foundation Donates Over $10,000 for Summer Concert Series
The City Council is adopting Resolution 26-68 to accept a donation of $10,729.33 from the Community Strength Foundation. This donation will offset costs for the 2026 summer concert series. Accepting the donation via resolution is required by state statute, and the city expresses gratitude for the foundation's generosity.
