Chelsea Fire Department Welcomes New Firefighters and Promotes Officers
The City Council meeting commenced with a roll call, noting several absent council members, and proceeded to a special meeting for the swearing-in ceremony of new firefighters and the promotion of company officers. Chief Koteri highlighted the department's commitment to meeting the growing demands of the city, mentioning the recommissioning of Engine 4 as a key accomplishment that enhanced response capabilities and coverage. Seven new firefighters and three newly promoted company officers were officially welcomed and took their oaths. The ceremony included the pinning of badges by family members. Additionally, Marcela Castillo was recognized as the first Latina firefighter in the city's history, with the council and Women's Commission commending her accomplishment and inspirational role. Council members offered remarks, congratulating the new personnel on their bravery, dedication, and the diversity they bring to the department, emphasizing the importance of their service to the community.
