City Council Approves Revenue-Neutral Certified Tax Rates for Salt Lake and Utah Counties
The city council adopted the final certified tax rates for both Salt Lake County and Utah County for the fiscal year 2027. The certified tax rate is calculated by the state auditor's office to be revenue neutral, meaning it aims to keep property tax revenues the same as the prior year. This rate will drop when property values rise and increase when property values fall. The adopted rate for Salt Lake County and Utah County is 0.000837, generating an estimated total property tax revenue of $3,259,136, which is close to the previously estimated $3.3 million in the budget adopted last council meeting. No truth in taxation process was proposed or planned for this budget. Two resolutions, 2026-25 for Salt Lake County and 2026-26 for Utah County, were approved separately.
