Business License Administration Transitioning to HDL; Grace Period for Renewal Fees
The Finance Department is notifying businesses about the transition of the business license administration program to HDL, approved by the council in a previous meeting. Businesses have the option to renew their licenses ahead of the transition. Those who haven't will have a grace period until August 31st to pay fees. The switch from the city's system to the HDL system goes live on August 3rd, with a system downtime for new license processing from July 27th to August 2nd.
Auburn Hook and Ladder Company Hosts 'Fill the Fire Engine' School Supply Drive on June 18th
The Auburn Hook and Ladder Company will be stationed at Staples and CVS on June 18th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the 'Fill the Fire Engine' event, collecting school supplies and personal items for students and families in need. The event will feature antique fire engines.
FY 2026-2027 Sewer Assessments Approved for Placement on County Tax Roll
The council approved placing the 2026-2027 sewer assessment onto the Placer County tax roll. This includes a 5% increase in sewer rates, which was previously adopted by the council. A public hearing was held as required for this annual process.
Sustainability Committee Advances Front Lawn Project, Plastic Recycling, and Highway 49 Beautification Efforts
The sustainability committee is progressing with the sustainability front lawn project, with mulch laid down and the next phase involving a wall and path installation planned for the following month. Plants will be added in the fall. The committee, in partnership with Rotary and Public Works, has also been working on collecting plastic, with one individual collecting half a ton which will be processed by Safeway/Trex and Brier Patch. Sustainability is also exploring a beautification project for Highway 49 near the Grocery Outlet, involving stakeholders like Caltrans, and is looking into a parking lot tree landscape project with Grocery Outlet.
Upcoming Community Events Include Economic Development Town Hall, Movies in the Park, Playground Vote, and Tile Dedication
Mayor Davis announced upcoming events, including a 'Small Town Talks' economic development town hall on August 11th at 5:30 PM. Starting in August, the Arts Commission will host 'Movie in the Park' on Saturdays. The ARD is preparing to vote on a small kids' playground at Rec Park, with details to be posted soon. Additionally, the Streetscape History and Art Advisory Committee will hold a tile dedication ceremony on June 23rd at 5:30 PM for Jacob Nef, Sam Holiday, Tom Johnson, and the Hook and Ladder Company.
