Councilor Stanganelli Highlights Need for Updates on Key City Initiatives
Councilor Stanganelli requested updates on legislative priorities including speed limits, district improvement financing (TIP projects), Housing Trust programs (rental assistance, first-time homebuyer), short-term rental revenue and enforcement, and a public list of city union contracts. The council president acknowledged these topics for future discussion.
Mayor Presents $10 Million in Grants for City Improvement Projects at Community Forum
Councilor Gilday reported on a well-attended community forum where the mayor presented approximately $10 million in secured state and federal grants for improvement projects, including marina enhancements, boat ramp/launch upgrades, and funding for the Smart Group Overlay District. Flammable Storage License Transferred for Elm Street Location
The city council approved the transfer of an existing license for the storage of flammable and combustible materials at 132 Elm Street. The transfer, following a property sale, was approved unanimously after confirmation that fire department requirements were met.
Solid Waste Enterprise Fund Established
The city council approved an order to establish a solid waste enterprise fund pursuant to MGL chapter 44, section 53F. The establishment of the fund was approved unanimously.
Elm Street Fire Station Floor Repair Funding Approved
The city council approved an order to transfer the remaining balance from the HVAC replacement capital account for the Elm Street Fire Station Floor Repair. The approval was unanimous.
