Building Department Operations Assistant Euriksa Cordero Receives Salary Increase to $47,000
Resolution 5 approves increasing the Building Department Operations Assistant Euriksa Cordero's yearly salary to $47,000, effective July 1, 2026. This is a significant increase beyond the standard 3.25% raise, intended to acknowledge her outstanding performance, leadership in training new staff, adaptation to new software (BSA), and bilingual skills. The recommended salary of $47,000 was based on maintaining a balance with union member wages, which include annual increases and step increases that allow them to potentially earn more than appointed positions quicker. Councilmember Addresses Sewer Concerns, Tree Management Challenges, and Affirms Commitment to Transparency
Councilmember Lloyd addressed Michael Walker's concerns about sewer line issues, stating that city employees had inspected the area and that the last he heard, the issue was being handled. He emphasized the importance of residents bringing forward issues like tree problems, noting that the city has a large number of trees (around 1,100) and limited staff (eight or nine in water and sewer department), requiring resident assistance. Lloyd also apologized to Kim and Tom Steinman for any additional pain caused by his actions, stating it was unintentional, and expressed support for their request for transparency and accountability. He acknowledged that democracy can be messy and uncomfortable but necessary for progress.
