City Council Approves Tax Budget, Financial Incentives, and Emergency Purchase Orders
The council reviewed and approved several financial resolutions and ordinances, including the tax budget for the upcoming fiscal year, continuation of Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) program agreements, and the Twinsburg Occupancy Program (TOP) tax incentives. Ordinance 2026-92, concerning purchase orders, was passed as an emergency measure after suspending the three-reading rule.
Emergency Ordinance Approved for Payment of Purchase Orders
The council approved Ordinance 2026-92, which authorizes the execution of then-and-now certificates by the director of finance and the payment of amounts due for various purchase orders. The rules were suspended to place the ordinance on its third and final reading, and it was passed as an emergency measure with a 7-0 vote. This action is necessary to certify these items as soon as possible.
City to Address Sidewalk Issues and Plan for New Salt Facility
The Public Works Committee meeting is scheduled for October 13th. The city plans to address unlevel sidewalks caused by city-planted trees or storm sewers, with the service and engineering departments reviewing issues reported by homeowners. Additionally, the city is addressing a salt shortage by increasing its allocation, which requires a new, larger salt facility. This project is estimated to cost $180,000 and will be bid out.
Ordinance on Residential Garage Orientation Fails; Rezoning for Post Road Introduced
The council voted on Ordinance 2026-70 concerning the orientation of attached residential garages. The ordinance failed to pass with a vote of 3-4. Additionally, a rezoning request for 2570 Post Road from Public Facility to R3 Single Unit Residential (Ordinance 2026-93) and a related ballot question (Ordinance 2026-94) were introduced and will proceed to first reading.
