We Hang Christmas Lights Florida Awarded Downtown Holiday Lighting Contract
The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board awarded the holiday lighting RFP to We Hang Christmas Lights Florida for fiscal year 2027. The selection committee favored this vendor due to their demonstrated experience, successful track record with large-scale displays, competitive pricing, and high quality of products and services. Nine bids were submitted in response to the solicitation for standard and enhanced holiday decorations for downtown Kissimmee.
City Swears in Five New Firefighter Paramedics to Bolster Fire Department
The City Commission swore in five new firefighter paramedics. These individuals have completed rigorous training, including live fire and EMS training, and are ready to serve the community starting Saturday. This fulfills the city's goal of staffing an additional shift. Applications have been extended to eight more firefighters to complete the fourth shift, with a final new hire ceremony planned.
City Recognizes Employees for Service Milestones
The City of Kissimmee recognized several employees for reaching service milestones in April, May, and June 2026. Awards were given for 5, 10, 20, and 30 years of service across various departments including Fire, Haven on Vine, Public Works, Finance, Police, and Development Services. Some employees were unable to attend the ceremony and will receive their awards at a later date.
City Approves $4 Million Loan for Haven on Baying Apartments Rehabilitation
The City Commission unanimously approved a substantial amendment to the Section 108 loan application, increasing the loan request from $3 million to $4 million. This additional $1 million is specifically needed to fund infrastructure improvements required for the rehabilitation of the Haven on Baying Apartments. This amendment to the 2025-2029 consolidated plan and 2025 annual action plan is a necessary step to secure the increased funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
