Wastewater Treatment Plant Enhances Cybersecurity; Water Main Break Repaired

The Gloversville Johnstown wastewater treatment plant is being reviewed for enhanced cybersecurity to prevent incidents similar to those experienced by other communities. Additionally, concerning water mains, the water board discussed a break on North and Bleecker, commending the crew for their timely repair. Four resolutions were passed, and a challenged water bill was tabled for further investigation. The superintendent noted that lawyers have tried to contact the city attorney without response.

The council approved the meeting minutes for the May 26th, 2026, regular session and the June 12th, 2026, special meeting. A motion was made and seconded for the approval.

Police Department Reports Increased Calls for Service and Staffing Challenges

The Police Department has responded to over 8,600 calls for service so far this year, a significant increase from last year. They have also made over 500 arrests. A new recruit is set to begin field training on July 28th and graduate at the end of August, with plans to send two new hires to EMT school and then firefighter school. The department is facing challenges in finding qualified applicants for police positions, similar to the fire department.

Public Showings Scheduled for Old EPW Building

The city assessor's office is holding a showing for the old EPW building on Lincoln Street. There will be two showings: one from 9 to 11 AM and another from 3:30 to 5:30 PM.
